Innovation implementation in practice through interdisciplinary research
Facilitating change and innovation by research: gain expertise – realize your own projects and ideas. There are 40 places available. The 20 top-rated applicants will receive a funding of 600 Euros each.
Program Outline
The training school will
- focus on issues related to how we do research and implement change in organisations
- provide case studies of places where changes have happened in challenging circumstances
- facilitate the development and implementation of participants’ own ideas and projects
and provides interdisciplinary input by
- health professionals
- social scientists, lawyers and economists
- artists
- action researchers
- innovation experts
Innovations and changes need more than just intellectual work, they are generated as well by unusual ideas, imagination and inspiration and they are realized by coincidences as well as by strategies. Therefore, the Training School will offer lectures on central topics of change, research and innovation as well as working sessions on participants’ own projects integrating multiple and innovative methods.
The Training School experts come from different countries, different disciplines and different working fields. They will coach your projects during the training school to help develop your ideas.
Conference fee:
The early bird conference fee is CHF 200 (registration after December 1st is CHF 250). This covers the participation at the training school and catering for lunch and coffee breaks. The journey and accommodation lies in the responsibility of participants.

Application
Participants of the training school should focus on projects concerning topics in the fields of maternity care, early life family care and health promotion. Projects may address medical, biological, epigenetic, social, psychological or economical questions and relate to Salutogenesis, Human Rights or other current and forthcoming discussions. Please note: the projects can be in different stages, e.g., concrete idea or vision, planned projects or already implemented projects.
Applicants apply with an own project-idea on:
- implementation of research results into practice
- intervention research or action research
- innovation through and within research
- initiating or supporting change in organizational and professional practice
- innovation through best practice
Application:
Applicants are requested to prepare the following:
1. Describe your project (max. 1000 words) including:

- History of origin of idea

- Aims for the project (1-2 general aims, 1-3 specific aims)
- Description of the stage of your project including the theoretical background, the acceptance in the organization or field, planned or conducted actions and interventions, planned next steps, funding and timeline
- Your aim for the training school (what would you like to achieve and gain during the training school?)
- Bring a photograph of anything that could (or usually does) inspire your work and thinking, such as a vision or intuitive idea that relates to your project to the training school (e.g. a photo, music peace, object and so on). Write a short text (max. 200 words) explaining why you chose this object and what it means to you – and attach a photo of your intuitive idea.

General information

The Training School takes place near Lucerne, in the KKLB – Centre for Modern Art and Culture of radio station Beromünster, Switzerland. KKLB is a centre for art, research, innovation and culture where exhibitions are shown, seminaries are hold and projects are developed. The professionals of the KKLB-centre created the birth hospital of Lucerne together with architects and obstetricians, they build up a birth house nearby and they are initiating political art actions. Some of the professionals and artists will be coaches and give special seminaries in the Training School. The KKLB has various seminary rooms and facilities, so a suitable environment can be chosen for every activity or topic.
The radio station is situated in one of the most beautiful and less populated areas of Switzerland and it has itself a significant history. During World War II, Jewish refugees were saved here and many of them saved their own lives listening to the news that were broadcasted in different languages at the time when neutral information was rare. Hence, the place itself has to do with positive changes.
